Baku: Barcelona have been scoring goals for fun this season and were at it again on Sunday, in a comfortable La Liga win over Girona, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the opener was actually an own goal but Barca went on to add to their tally due to a brace from Robert Lewandowski and an effort from substitute Ferran Torres. Barcelona now have 139 goals in 45 games played in all competitions so far this season, and the record books show that no La Liga side has ever managed such a feat before.
Lewandowski’s goals mean he now has 25 in 28 appearances in La Liga this season and strengthens his position at the top of the Pichichi standings. The veteran is also the first player to reach that mark in a season since Lionel Messi back in 2018-19.
Ferran Torres is also enjoying a campaign in front of goal. The Shark now has 15 for the season as he enjoys his best-ever campaign.
