Foreign Investments May Shift to Azerbaijan Due to Regional Tensions

Baku:Geopolitical developments and security risks in the region are prompting a shift in capital toward safer investment markets. Azerbaijan is emerging as a potentially attractive destination for foreign investors, as stated by Gulizar Yavash, Chief Commercial Counsellor at the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan. She made these remarks at the Turkic states fintech forum held in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Yavash highlighted the significant changes in global capital flows, with funds moving out of regions experiencing increasing security risks. She noted that serious tensions in the area surrounding Azerbaijan and Türkiye have led investors to feel unsafe, causing them to redirect their funds to other markets.

Yavash emphasized that Azerbaijan could benefit from this trend through its economic diversification policies and investment opportunities. She pointed out that the country offers investment potential in sectors such as agriculture and renewable energy.

Azerbaijan is actively diversifying its economy to enhance economic security, which could attract foreign investors as the number of safe investment destinations dwindles. Yavash stressed that the anticipated increase in foreign investments would likely boost demand for financial technologies and payment systems. Consequently, fintech companies should identify and address the needs of new investors to develop suitable services.
