Baku: An event dedicated to World Blood Donor Day, which is observed annually on June 14, was organized by the Republican Blood Bank of the Ministry of Health. The gathering was attended by an array of participants, including heads and representatives from state institutions, private enterprises, public organizations, active blood donors, and members of the media.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event commenced with a solemn tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, marked by a minute of silence and the performance of the National Anthem. Elkhan Nagiyev, Executive Director of the Republican Blood Bank of the Ministry of Health, shared insights into the progress made in the realm of blood donation within the country. He emphasized the growing interest in voluntary and unpaid blood donation, which has played a pivotal role in sustaining blood reserves and aiding the treatment of thousands of patients.
Speakers from various state institutions underscored the societal importance of blood donation. They discussed ongoing awareness-raising initiatives in this domain and highlighted the significance of interagency collaboration.
The artistic segment of the event featured a performance by the ‘Natiq’ Rhythm Group, followed by a presentation and video showcasing the activities of the Republican Blood Bank. In recognition of efforts to promote blood donation, certificates of appreciation and awards were distributed to notable institutions, including APA Media Group.
