The reportage examines the origins and development of jazz in Azerbaijan. It notes that Baku’s jazz scene has created a unique style by combining Western improvisation with traditional mugham. It also states that jazz has been an important part of the city’s cultural life since the early 1900s and continues to thrive through modern jazz festivals.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Azerbaijani musicians highlight the importance of collaboration and festivals in shaping the city’s evolving cultural identity. They emphasize that innovation is vital for the genre’s sustainability, while younger generations contribute fresh perspectives.
