EBRD Funding for Azerbaijan Sees Sharp Decline in 2025


Baku: The volume of funds allocated to Azerbaijan by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for 2025 has been disclosed, APA-Economics reports. Last year, the bank allocated 81 million euros to finance 10 projects in the country. This is 60% or 118 million euros less compared to 2024, when this figure stood at 199 million euros.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, as of December 31 last year, the EBRD’s current loan portfolio for projects in Azerbaijan amounted to 906 million euros, with 40% of this attributed to the private sector. The bank’s operational assets in the country totaled 695 million euros as of December 31, 2025.



It was noted that 90% of the portfolio (812 million euros) is invested in sustainable infrastructure, 7% (64 million euros) in financial institutions, and 3% (30 million euros) in industry, trade, and agrobusiness. In September, the bank’s operating assets in the country increased by 0.9% compared to the previous month, amounting to 703 million euros.



Thus far, the EBRD has invested a total of 3.648 billion euros in Azerbaijan within the framework of 201 projects.
