Baku: Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan visited the Khankendi Railway and Bus Terminal Complex as part of their tour of Garabagh and East Zangezur. The visit was led by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, with participation from 150 representatives hailing from 58 countries and nine international organizations.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the diplomats toured the new five-story facility, which features two railway platforms and 12 bus stops, located four kilometers from the city center. The delegation was briefed on the Aghdam-Khankendi railway line, an extension of the Barda-Aghdam railway line, which spans 28 kilometers. The project includes the construction of Asgaran and Khojaly stations, along with the Khankendi Railway and Bus Terminal Complex. It also involves building engineering structures, bridges, overpasses, and crossings for various uses, with completion slated for 2025-2026.
During their two-day visit, the diplomatic representatives will also travel to Shusha, Aghdara, and Kalbajar. They will receive updates on redevelopment and construction initiatives in the liberated territories, alongside new social and economic infrastructure projects. Furthermore, the diplomats will learn about efforts to preserve and restore historical and cultural heritage in the region.
