Karabakh: A two-day visit to Karabakh and East Zangezur by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan concluded, APA’s correspondent in Karabakh reports. The visit, which ended on September 12, 2026, provided an opportunity for diplomats and military attach©s to engage with the rich cultural heritage and ongoing development in the region.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the second day of the visit was marked by a tour of significant historical sites, including the Gandzasar Monastery Complex near the village of Vangli in the Aghdara district and the Khudavang Monastery Complex in the village of Vang in the Kalbajar district. During their visit, the diplomatic representatives were informed about the history and architectural significance of these complexes and were made aware of the various alterations and modifications that have been made to the monuments over time.
The visit also included an exploration of the monastery grounds where the diplomats examined the monuments closely. In addition, the group familiarized themselves with the operations of the “Istisu” mineral water bottling plant, showcasing the region’s economic activities. The diplomatic corps representatives also attended a honey festival in the city of Kalbajar, highlighting the local culture and traditions.
This visit marked the 22nd trip by diplomatic representatives to the territories that have been liberated from occupation. These regular visits are instrumental in providing firsthand insights into the restoration and reconstruction efforts led by President Ilham Aliyev. They also allow the diplomats to observe the socio-economic development of Karabakh and East Zangezur and the initiatives to preserve its historical and cultural heritage.
