Baku: On August 6, the Baku Court of Appeal continued hearings on the appeals filed by citizens of the Republic of Armenia – Arayik Harutyunyan, Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Davit Ishkhanyan, David Babayan, Levon Mnatsakanyan, and others – who were convicted by the Baku Military Court of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including the preparation and conduct of aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, forcible seizure of power, and numerous other crimes resulting from Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, on July 31, following the conclusion of the court hearing, the appellate court panel retired to deliberate and reach a verdict on the appeals filed by Armenian citizens. The individuals were previously convicted under the verdict of the Baku Military Court dated February 5, 2026, with sentences ranging from 15 years to life imprisonment.
The Baku Military Court’s verdict sentenced Arayik Harutyunyan, Levon Mnatsakanyan, David Manukyan, Davit Ishkhanyan, and David Babayan to life imprisonment. Meanwhile, Arkadi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan received 20-year sentences, Madat Babayan and Melikset Pashayan were given 19 years, and Garik Martirosyan was sentenced to 18 years. Additionally, Davit Allahverdyan and Levon Balayan were sentenced to 16 years, while Vasili Beglaryan, Gurgen Stepanyan, and Erik Ghazaryan received 15 years’ imprisonment.
