British Company Reveals Total Gold Production in Azerbaijan

Baku: The UK-based company Anglo Asian Mining PLC, operating in Azerbaijan, has produced more than 850,000 ounces of gold since it began production in 2009 through the end of January this year, the mining company stated, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, total production to date includes approximately 851,000 ounces of gold, 1.9 million ounces of silver, and more than 30,000 tons of copper. Combined, these figures amount to more than 1 million gold equivalent ounces of production.

It was noted that the company expanded its asset portfolio last year by launching operations at Azerbaijan’s Gilar underground copper-gold mine and the Demirli open-pit copper deposit. With the contribution of these projects, copper production is expected to increase significantly in 2026.

The company’s vice president, Stephen Westhead, said the result was achieved through the continuous expansion of operations and increased production capacity.

Recall that Anglo Asian began developing six deposits under a production sharing agreement (PSA) signed on August 21, 1997. Under the agreement, Azerbaijan holds a 51% share, while Anglo Asian Mining PLC holds 49%. The company currently has the right to operate in eight contract areas in Azerbaijan. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is one of the country’s largest non-oil industrial exporters.
