Baku: Jordan’s leading media outlets and news websites have published articles highlighting the meeting between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan held in Bishkek on August 31.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the reports published by “al-Ray,” “al-Dustur,” “al-Ghad,” “Jordan Daily,” “Nayrouz,” “Albaladnews,” and “al-Nabz” mentioned that discussions during the meeting focused on the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, as well as progress made on the peace agenda.
The articles underscored the historical significance of the Joint Declaration signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Washington on August 8 last year in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the initialing of the text of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-state Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The reports also highlighted the importance of Azerbaijan’s export of oil products to Armenia, the transportation of grain and other goods from third countries to Armenia via transit through Azerbaijan’s territory, as well as the establishment of trade relations between the two countries.
The Jordanian media outlets noted that discussions addressed the next practical steps regarding the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) which is one of the key outcomes of the Washington meeting, highlighting the importance of implementing connectivity projects along the route.
The articles underlined that President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed to continue practical steps towards strengthening lasting peace, normalizing inter-state relations, and enhancing regional ties through direct contacts.
The media outlets drew attention to Jordan’s support for the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, noting that the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued statements supporting the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia on four villages within the framework of the delimitation of the state border, as well as the conclusion of negotiations on an agreement on peace and the establishment of inter-state relations.
The articles also emphasized that King Abdullah II of Jordan held a telephone conversation with President Ilham Aliyev on August 11 last year to discuss the progress achieved regarding the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington.
