Istanbul:Bir, the Caucasus’ first integrated banking, payments, and e-commerce ecosystem, showcased its national digital financial services roadmap at Istanbul Fintech Week 2026.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Javid Mirzayev, Head of the Fintech business for the Bir ecosystem and First Deputy Chairman of Kapital Bank, spoke at the Digital Banking Summit on October 7. He discussed how the bank expanded its digital ecosystem to over 5 million users, highlighting the integration of banking, payments, and shopping to streamline everyday life. Mirzayev emphasized that traditional banks can adapt to customer needs and lead the digital shift without being disrupted by fintechs.
During the ‘The Digital Bank Born or Built?’ panel, moderated by KOOP Ventures Co-Founder Mustafa Baltaci, Mirzayev joined Ludwig Mallia, Bank of Valletta’s Head of Innovation, to explain Bir’s structure. The Bir ecosystem combines Kapital Bank’s digital banking brand, Birbank, with the Birmarket online marketplace, m10 digital wallet, and Milliön payment terminals to offer seamless digital experiences.
Mirzayev elaborated on tools like Bir ID, Bir Bonus, and Bir Pay, which unify the platforms and enable users to seamlessly navigate between services, earn rewards, and make payments. He noted a significant shift in consumer behavior, with 90% of customers now using the Birbank app for daily banking. Additionally, operational efficiency has improved, with 60% of customer support requests resolved without human intervention—an increase from 31% the previous year.
Istanbul Fintech Week, since its inception in 2019, has attracted over 17,000 participants from 62 countries, positioning itself as a key international platform in the financial technology sector. Bir’s involvement underscores Azerbaijan’s ongoing digital transformation efforts on a global scale.
