Baku: Baku Steel Company CJSC (BSC), the largest metallurgical company in the South Caucasus, has successfully completed the implementation of the SAP S/4HANA system as part of its digital transformation strategy. This strategic move has launched the system into industrial operation, bringing real-time processing capabilities and unifying all critical operational processes of BSC, including those of its Azerboru and AzFerAl production facilities, onto a single SAP platform.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the key advantages of the new system include compliance with international standards, unified real-time management, and full integration of transparent and traceable processes. The system minimizes the human factor, increases production and logistics efficiency, and provides measurable performance, advanced forecasting, and analytics capabilities, positioning BSC for future technological integrations. Early positive results in operational efficiency and data management have been observed following the transition to live operation.
As part of the project, several SAP system modules were fully integrated, encompassing Finance, Procurement and Logistics, Production, Quality Management, Sales, Plant Maintenance Planning, and Document Management. This integration has centralized the management of all operational processes across the group’s companies on a single digital platform.
To enhance efficiency and reduce human error in processes such as goods receipt, sales, production, and inventory counting, handheld terminals, connections to weighing equipment, and interactive labeling systems were implemented. These solutions, integrated with SAP, facilitate process automation and real-time data flows.
Galib Mammadov, Head of Digital Transformation at BSC and SAP S/4HANA Project Manager, emphasized the significance of the SAP S/4HANA system go-live as a pivotal step in BSC’s digital transformation journey. The project was completed in collaboration with Nagarro, SAP’s first Gold Partner in Trkiye, within 13 months, encompassing data standardization, user training, multi-stage testing, and successful pilot implementations.
Sultan Askarov, Deputy CEO of BSC and Curator of the SAP S/4HANA project, highlighted the project’s role in enhancing strategic agility and innovative leadership. The transformation contributes to BSC’s sustainable growth, international competitiveness, and adaptation to next-generation industrial models. Today, a handover and acceptance certificate was signed between Muhammed Yusuf Cetin of Nagarro Global and Sultan Askarov, marking a significant milestone in the project.
During a meeting involving the governing bodies of both companies, plans for further cooperation and prospective areas for development were discussed. BSC aims to introduce new solutions within the SAP ecosystem, including SAP Analytics Cloud, mobile applications, and expanded digital integration with business partners, further strengthening information security. The implementation of SAP Analytics Cloud will establish a unified management and reporting structure across the group’s companies.
