Baku: On September 19, the constituent meeting of the First Congress of Composers of the Turkic World took place at the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, coinciding with the 18th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival. Attendees included representatives from leading musical institutions in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Trkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Hungary.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, highlighted the congress’s importance for the Turkic world’s musical community. The initiative was jointly proposed by the Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijan National Conservatory. Raimkulova described the congress as a new international platform aimed at uniting composers, musicologists, performers, and musical organizations from the Turkic world, fostering professional cooperation among them.
During the congress, the Turkic Union of Composers (TUC) was established, and the Baku Declaration on its formation was signed. The event concluded with the distribution of membership certificates and credentials to the participants.
The main objective of the Turkic Union of Composers is to consolidate the creative potential of the Turkic world, enhance professional cooperation among composers and musical organizations, support contemporary composition schools, contribute to the creation of new works, and promote Turkic music on prestigious international stages.
