Ganja: As part of its ongoing initiative to enhance media understanding of the mining industry, AzerGold CJSC organized a comprehensive training session and media tour for journalists. This event, aligned with the 10th anniversary of the Joint Stock Company’s operations, saw participation from 28 journalists representing prominent online media outlets across the country.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the first day of the event featured theoretical training sessions in Ganja, conducted by specialists from AzerGold CJSC. The training covered a wide array of topics including geological exploration, mineral resource extraction and processing, precious metals sales, occupational health and safety, environmental protection, communication strategies, and corporate social responsibility. These interactive sessions facilitated robust discussions and provided an opportunity for media representatives to have their questions addressed by industry experts.
On the second day, participants visited the Ganja Autism Center, an initiative supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and AzerGold CJSC, organized by the “Birg? v? Saglam” (Together and Healthy) Public Union. Journalists were given a tour of the facility to observe the rehabilitation processes for children with autism spectrum disorders.
The tour continued with visits to newly established book kiosks in the Dashkasan and Goygol districts, along with insights into ongoing social projects. Journalists also inspected the modular building of a full secondary school in Gushchu settlement, Dashkasan district, named after Salmikhan Isgandarov, a project initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with support from AzerGold CJSC.
Further into the trip, media representatives toured the Chovdar Integrated Regional Processing Area (CIRPA) and the “Chovdar” gold mine in Chovdar village, Dashkasan district. Here, they received detailed briefings on the operations of the enterprise, including gold extraction and processing procedures, modern production technologies, and occupational health and safety measures. They also learned about the biological reclamation efforts undertaken at the waste rock dump.
The practical insights gained from observing the production areas allowed journalists to deepen their understanding of gold processing stages, precious metals extraction and refinement, and adherence to environmental standards and requirements.
To evaluate the journalists’ knowledge development in the mining sector, pre- and post-training assessments were conducted. The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
