Salzburg:The ‘Mine-Free World’ international campaign, organized by the ‘Gilavar Photo Club’ Public Union of Azerbaijan, made its latest stop in Salzburg, Austria. The photo exhibition was held in front of the Central Railway Station in collaboration with the ‘Azerbaijan House’ in Austria.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the exhibition focused on the landmine issue as a significant humanitarian challenge in the territories of Azerbaijan that were liberated from occupation. The event featured 22 documentary photographs illustrating how landmines continue to affect daily life and prevent social recovery and the construction of a peaceful future.
The exhibition emphasized that Armenia’s failure to provide accurate maps of mined areas has led to nearly 500 casualties in the post-conflict period. By organizing this event in Salzburg’s central square, the exhibition aims to highlight the right to a peaceful environment and advocate for the inclusion of a ‘Mine-Free World’ as an additional UN Sustainable Development Goal.
This exhibition in Salzburg follows similar events held in several other European cities, including Geneva, Brno, Ljubljana, Sarajevo, and Zagreb, earlier in October. The ‘Gilavar’ Photo Club organized these exhibitions as part of a 2026 grant competition focused on mine and unexploded ordnance issues, supported by the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Karabakh Revival Fund, in partnership with ANAMA.
