Baku: Azerbaijan’s average monthly salary has surpassed the 1,100 manat mark, reflecting a notable increase in the country’s economic landscape. According to preliminary data for 2025, the average monthly nominal wage of employees across various sectors in Azerbaijan rose by 9.3% from the previous year, reaching 1,102.9 manats.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistical Committee reported that the average monthly nominal wage was particularly higher in sectors such as extractive industries, financial and insurance services, information and communications, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as transport and warehousing.
As of January 1, 2026, preliminary data indicated that the total number of employees in Azerbaijan’s economy was approximately 1,808,000 individuals. Out of this workforce, 865,800 were employed in the public sector, while 942,200 worked in the non-state (private) sector.
Among those earning wages, a significant portion, 18.6%, were engaged in trade and repair of motor vehicles. This was followed by 18.1% in education, 13.8% in industry, 8.5% in human health and social work activities, 6.6% in construction, and 6.2% in public administration and defense; social security. Other employment sectors included transport and warehousing at 4.4%, professional, scientific and technical activities at 3.9%, and agriculture, forestry, and fishing, as well as financial and insurance activities, each accounting for 2.4%. The remaining workforce was distributed across various other sectors of the economy.
