Azerbaijani Soldier Detained in Armenia Faces Two-Month Custody

Baku:Azerbaijani Army serviceman Nasimi Musayev, who was detained in Armenia, has been placed under arrest. The Armenian media reported that the court approved the investigation’s request to hold Musayev in custody for two months.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Reports from the Prosecutor General’s Office Press Service indicated that Musayev, performing active military service in Azerbaijan’s Lachin district, was reported missing. On September 26, 2026, a search operation was initiated after he was found absent from his post, prompting efforts by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations to locate him.

The Military Prosecutor’s Office conducted an inquiry into the incident, which led to reasonable suspicions that Musayev had left his military unit without authorization.
