Paris: Azerbaijani judokas finished the first day of the “Grand Slam” tournament held in the French capital, Paris, with two medals, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Balabey Aghayev secured a gold medal in the 60 kg category, marking a significant achievement for the Azerbaijani team. Ruslan Pashayev also contributed to the team’s success by winning a bronze medal in the 66 kg category.
However, not all Azerbaijani participants advanced in the tournament. Nazir Talibov, competing in the 66 kg category, faced a challenging match and was defeated by Portugal’s Miguel Gago in the 1/16 finals.
