Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Affirms Karabakh as Integral Part of Azerbaijan

Baku: Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry responded to recent comments made by Dmitry Peskov, the Russian President’s Press Secretary, regarding the recognition of the Karabakh region. Peskov, during an interview with the “Vesti” channel, discussed the stance of Russia and Armenia on acknowledging the Karabakh region as part of Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan emphasized that the status of the Karabakh region as an integral part of Azerbaijan is rooted in historical context, international law, and principles of justice, rather than the decision of any individual state. This status was further solidified following the events of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, as well as the anti-terrorist measures undertaken in 2023.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reiterated to the Russian side that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, including the Karabakh region, has never been challenged by any country, including the Russian Federation.
