Baku: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, announced at a joint press conference with Ignazio Cassis, the Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, that significant infrastructure projects are underway in Azerbaijan. These include railway and highway initiatives that are expected to connect to the Armenia border by early 2027.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Bayramov detailed the current state of these projects, noting that the railway within the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic covers approximately 180 kilometers. However, due to its inactivity for nearly three decades, substantial investment and reconstruction efforts are necessary. Work on restoring this vital connection has already commenced.
Bayramov also discussed the Kars-Igdir-Dilucu railway, a project of regional significance that is progressing in Turkey. He highlighted that its completion will enhance regional connectivity, not only restoring links between Azerbaijan’s mainland and Nakhchivan but also enriching the East-West and Middle Corridor routes.
