Azerbaijani Delegation Joins CIS Counterterrorism Talks in Moscow


Moscow: The 19th Meeting of the Heads of the CIS Competent Authorities Lead Units in Charge of Countering Terrorism took place in Moscow, with Azerbaijani representatives actively participating in the discussions. The event’s primary focus was on bolstering interstate cooperation to tackle terrorism and extremism.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting gathered representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, working bodies from CIS institutions and specialized international, scientific, and educational organizations were present.



During the plenary session, participants stressed the importance of intensifying the efforts of the Commonwealth countries’ competent authorities to ensure collective security. Discussions highlighted the necessity of unified actions against contemporary terrorist and extremist threats.



Specialized sessions delved into various critical topics, including the development of international cooperation, the enhancement of information exchange, and the application of artificial intelligence technologies in security. Participants also examined ways to prevent the misuse of AI for unlawful purposes.



In conclusion, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism. The meeting underscored the shared resolve of the CIS countries to continue collaborating on security matters.
