Azerbaijan to Fund Education for Children of Fallen Deminers

Baku: The tuition fees for children of deminers who lost their lives during demining operations will be financed by the state budget, APA reports. This initiative is part of a proposed amendment to the Law on Education, which was deliberated upon during a meeting of the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed amendment ensures that the tuition fees for children of deceased deminers will be covered by state funds for the duration of their paid education at educational institutions within the Republic of Azerbaijan. This policy applies regardless of the institution’s ownership status and excludes additional education expenses.

Furthermore, the transitional provisions of the draft law indicate that the amendments, set to take effect on September 15, 2026, will also benefit children of deminers who were killed or died from injuries sustained during demining activities prior to the law’s enactment. This applies to eligible children up to a maximum age of 23.
