Baku: Azerbaijan is set to enhance its state policy in the domain of informatization by emphasizing information security and cybersecurity. This development was highlighted in a proposed amendment to the Law “On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information,” which was deliberated during a session of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft outlines procedures for monitoring and auditing state information resources and systems based on security criteria. However, it explicitly excludes information resources and systems associated with intelligence and counterintelligence entities, critical information infrastructure, as well as the information infrastructure of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Additionally, entities supervised in the financial markets, particularly those owned by the state or with state-held controlling stakes, are not covered under these procedures.
The designated body, as determined by the relevant executive authority, will be responsible for issuing opinions on information security. The draft law was subjected to a vote and successfully adopted in its first reading, marking a significant step in Azerbaijan’s efforts to bolster its informatization policies.
