Azerbaijan to Establish Regulations for State Oversight of Rough Diamond Trade

Baku: Rules for state control over the import and export of rough diamonds will be determined in Azerbaijan, APA reports. President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree to this effect.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decree mandates the Cabinet of Ministers to establish procedures within two months for implementing state control in areas such as import, export, use, circulation, accounting, storage, and tracking of rough diamonds. This includes determining the form of the certificate and the rules for issuing it, in alignment with the requirements of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme for the export of rough diamonds. The Cabinet of Ministers is also tasked with informing the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan once these procedures are approved.
