Baku: Computer Emergency Response Teams will be established in Azerbaijan, APA reports. This initiative is part of President Ilham Aliyev’s Decree concerning amendments to the Law “On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information.”
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decree outlines that cybersecurity activities for information infrastructures of public significance will be managed through CERTs. These teams will be either structural units within the state body responsible for state policy, regulation, and oversight in their respective sectors, or resident legal entities appointed by these bodies on a contractual basis.
The decree mandates the Cabinet of Ministers to collaborate with relevant state bodies to finance the establishment or designation of these teams. The state bodies are required to integrate Computer Emergency Response Teams and Security Operations Centers into the national registry within a year and report to the President of Azerbaijan.
The State Security Service and the Special Communication and Information Security State Service have been directed, and the Central Bank has been recommended, to ensure the inclusion of these teams in the registry and to keep the President informed of their progress.
