Baku: Azerbaijan received a significant supply of 2 billion cubic meters of associated gas from the ACG field during the first half of the year. This delivery, averaging around 11 million cubic meters per day, was primarily channeled to the Sangachal terminal and SOCAR’s Oil Rocks facility. The remaining associated gas produced was re-injected to maintain reservoir pressure, as reported by bp Azerbaijan to AZERTAC.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, ACG marked a milestone by commencing NAG production operations in the first half of the year, signifying the first-ever commercial gas production in this field. The initial NAG production operations began with the drilling of the first producer well in 2025, targeting the Qirmaki Upper Sand and Qirmaki Lower Sand reservoirs situated beneath the existing oil reservoirs. The well confirmed gas presence in the Qirmaki Upper Sand and encountered high-pressure gas in the Qirmaki Lower Sand.
The initial NAG operations are concentrating on the Qirmaki Lower Sand reservoir, focusing on well and reservoir testing activities. The produced gas and condensate are transported to the Sangachal terminal using the existing ACG infrastructure, facilitating the integration of oil and gas development systems.
In addition to NAG, the initial producer well identified an oil rim located at the bottom of the Qirmaki Lower Sand gas reservoir. Drilling for the first oil-rim well began in May from the Deepwater Gunashli platform, with completion anticipated in the second half of 2026. This well is expected to provide additional data to support future development evaluations within the ACG area.
