Baku: The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum is set to open a captivating exhibition titled “Carpet Magic Through the Echoes of Centuries” by Milena Nabiyeva, a distinguished artist and member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan and UNESCO.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the exhibition, opening on September 17, will display approximately 50 artworks by Nabiyeva, showcasing her creations from various periods. Central to these artworks are Azerbaijani carpet compositions and ornaments, complemented by elements of national architecture, nature, and floral motifs, all expressed through contemporary fine art.
Nabiyeva is renowned for her unique artistic approach, where she initially depicts ornate designs on canvas before layering the main narrative over this intricate background. This technique achieves a harmonious blend of carpet motifs with Azerbaijani architectural landmarks and natural scenery. Noteworthy pieces such as “Quince from the Garden of Eden,” “Sunday Morning,” “Malibeyli,” “Falling in Love,” “Love Bouquet,” and “Self-Confidence Bouquet” exemplify this fusion, bridging historical aesthetic codes with modern perspectives and honoring Azerbaijan’s rich cultural legacy.
The exhibition’s venue, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, aligns with its tradition of promoting artists who explore carpet themes in their work. This event continues the museum’s commitment to supporting artistic endeavors related to national carpet art.
Nabiyeva’s works have graced exhibitions in Baku, Paris, Ankara, and Saint Petersburg. “Carpet Magic Through the Echoes of Centuries” marks a new chapter in her artistic journey, encapsulating Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage through vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and innovative concepts.
The exhibition will be open to the public until September 21.
