Baku: A purposeful policy is being implemented to expand the geography of Azerbaijan’s gas supply, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov during the presentation of the ‘Report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2025,’ APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan is focusing on enhancing its energy capabilities, with plans to generate 6-8 gigawatts of electricity from alternative sources by 2032. The country has established effective cooperation with leading international companies to foster renewable energy projects, aiming to bolster energy security, diversify sources, and support sustainable development.
Azerbaijan’s strategic expansion includes not only increasing its gas supply but also developing new export routes. In 2025, Azerbaijan exported a total of 25.2 billion cubic meters of gas through various pipelines. While maintaining a strong presence in the European market, Azerbaijan has also ventured into new territories, marking its inaugural gas delivery to Syria. The number of countries importing Azerbaijani gas rose from 14 to 16, with Germany and Austria being the latest European nations to commence gas imports from Azerbaijan.
