Baku: Azerbaijan is set to expand its definition of subsoil use by including the utilization of sediments and rocks from reservoirs and construction activities. This development was reported by APA, highlighting the ongoing legislative discussions within the country’s government.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed amendments to the law ‘On Subsoil’ were a focal point at the recent meeting of the Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology Committee of the Milli Majlis. The amendments aim to categorize sediments such as sand, sand-gravel mixtures, and clay, along with rocks extracted during tunnel and passage construction, as legitimate types of subsoil use.
The legislative update further proposes that subsoil users will gain rights to utilize production waste from mining activities. This utilization will be regulated by procedures set by the relevant executive authority’s designated body or institution.
