Azerbaijan Emphasizes Importance of Cooperation Within Organization of Turkic States

Baku: Azerbaijan consistently attaches special importance to cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the meeting of prime ministers and vice presidents of the OTS member states held in Baku, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the current level of development of the Organization of Turkic States is the result of the purposeful policies and strong will of the heads of state of the member countries. It is precisely their consistent efforts that have ensured the deepening of cooperation within the organization year by year and the strengthening of solidarity in the Turkic world. The declaration of December 15 as World Turkic Language Day by UNESCO in November 2025 is an important indicator of the growing international prestige of the Turkic world.

Significant opportunities exist for the development of relations among Turkic states in various fields including political, economic, transport and transit, energy security, digital transformation, and humanitarian sectors. As President Ilham Aliyev has stated, strengthening ties with the Turkic world is one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. Azerbaijan has always prioritized cooperation within the OTS and has established strategic partnership or allied relations with all member states on a bilateral level.

Further expansion of trade and investment relations between the countries is of particular importance. Recent years have witnessed positive dynamics in this direction, with Azerbaijan’s total trade turnover with OTS member states increasing by more than 5% to $7.3 billion last year. Azerbaijan’s investments in member states amount to $21 billion. Joint investment funds established with several partner countries serve to expand mutual investments in priority areas and further strengthen economic cooperation. However, the existing potential exceeds these current indicators.

Increasing mutual trade turnover, promoting investment projects, deepening industrial cooperation, and expanding cooperation in agriculture, the digital economy, small and medium-sized enterprises, innovation, and high technologies will enable the full realization of the economic potential, the Prime Minister emphasized.
