Azerbaijan Detains 32 Individuals for State Border Violations

Baku: In December 2024, Azerbaijan detained 32 individuals for violating state border regulations, as reported by the Press Center of the State Border Service to APA. Among those detained, 8 were Azerbaijani nationals, while the remaining included 12 Pakistani, 5 Algerian, 5 Sri Lankan, and 2 Moroccan nationals.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, seven individuals were apprehended during anti-illegal migration efforts for attempting to cross the border using forged date stamps, passports, or documents belonging to others. Additionally, 863 individuals were detained for violating border regime rules, with appropriate measures taken against them.

In efforts to combat crime, 358 individuals wanted by Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities. Furthermore, 466 people who were banned from leaving the country were prevented from doing so, and 11 people banned from entry were stopped from entering Azerbaijan.

In the fight against drug trafficking, authorities seized 246 kilograms and 496 grams of narcotics, along with 833 pills classified as potent narcotic substances. Smuggling activities were also targeted, resulting in the discovery and seizure of contraband worth a total of 2,200,092 AZN, which included medicines, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, and cartridges belonging to the Canik 55 pistol.
