Baku: As part of the 19th Azerbaijan International Agriculture Exhibition and Forum – Caspian Agro Week, Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov met with his Uzbek counterpart, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov. During the meeting, discussions were held to enhance cooperation in the viticulture industry between the two nations.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Minister Majnun Mammadov recalled the productive meeting held in Tashkent during the Italy-Central Asia-Azerbaijan Forum in March. He highlighted that Uzbekistan has modeled its agricultural insurance system on Azerbaijan’s experience and added that Azerbaijan remains prepared to share its advancements in digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the broader agricultural sector.
The discussions emphasized Azerbaijan’s interest in maintaining the export of hazelnut seedlings to Uzbekistan and expanding collaboration in the field of viticulture. The ministers also explored digitalization, the implementation of innovative technologies, sustainable agricultural development, and the role of knowledge-sharing, noting the potential to deepen bilateral ties.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between Azerbaijan’s Agrarian Insurance Fund and Uzbekistan’s Agricultural Insurance Fund. The document was signed by Fuad Sadigov, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijani Fund, and Murodjon Achilov, Director of the Agricultural Insurance Fund under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan. The agreement aims to leverage Azerbaijani expertise to modernize Uzbekistan’s agricultural insurance system, enhance risk management, introduce innovative insurance products, and bolster cooperation through digital transformation.
