Baku:Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, met with Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Holy See, on September 29 to discuss potential joint programs.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Cardinal Koovakad reflected on his previous visit to Azerbaijan, expressing appreciation for the hospitality he received and recalling his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized the significance of Azerbaijan’s model of interfaith solidarity, especially during a time of global conflict and unrest.
Leyla Aliyeva highlighted the necessity of mutual support and collaboration in promoting dialogue on culture, religion, and human values amidst global challenges.
The discussions also covered the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s ongoing projects in the Vatican and potential future programs under the existing Memorandum of Understanding with the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations.
