Azerbaijan and Ethiopia Strengthen Economic Ties Through Investment Cooperation


Addis ababa: A delegation led by Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), participated in the Invest in Ethiopia 2026 Forum co-organized by the Ethiopian Investment Commission and the Ministry of Finance in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event highlighted Ethiopia’s investment opportunities and included panel discussions involving government officials and private sector representatives, along with the signing of documents related to investment projects.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, during the visit, Yusif Abdullayev held meetings with several key institutions. In a meeting with Zeleke Temesgen, Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), discussions centered around the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AZPROMO and the EIC during the Ethiopian Prime Minister’s visit to Azerbaijan in February. The meeting focused on strengthening relations, potential joint initiatives, and activities between the two institutions.



Abdullayev also met with Aynalem Abayneh Mamo, Vice President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA). The discussions emphasized establishing direct ties between entrepreneurs of both countries and exploring bilateral trade potential, as well as exchanging views on trade development with Ethiopia.



In discussions with Habtamu Tegegne, Ethiopian Minister of Mines and Petroleum, joint activities in the mining industry were explored. Additionally, Abdullayev’s meeting with Brook Taye, CEO of Ethiopian Investment Holdings, a sovereign wealth fund, highlighted Azerbaijan’s investment potential. They exchanged views on cooperation prospects, investment partnerships, and opportunities for joint initiatives.
