ANAMA and ARMAC Forge Partnership in Humanitarian Demining Cooperation


Baku: The Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) and the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) have formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in humanitarian demining. This agreement was reached during the 4th International Mine Action Conference, which focused on ‘Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements’. The conference was co-organized by ANAMA and the United Nations Office in Azerbaijan.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the MoU was signed by Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of ANAMA, and Rothna Buth, Executive Director of the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center. The memorandum outlines plans for collaboration between the organizations in humanitarian demining, facilitating the exchange of experiences and knowledge, sharing advanced methodologies, and promoting joint activities in areas of common interest.



This agreement marks a significant milestone in expanding international cooperation to tackle the mine challenges faced by Azerbaijan. It also aims to strengthen the exchange of expertise and experiences among mine action organizations operating across different regions.
