Baku: China’s readiness to expand its cooperation with Azerbaijan on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, was emphasized by Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, during a statement to AZERTAC. The ambassador highlighted the strategic importance of the route and China’s commitment to becoming a more integral participant in its development.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ambassador Lu Mei reported that cargo volumes transported via the TITR reached 4.7 million tons in 2025, establishing China as the leading source of goods shipped along this critical path. The ambassador further elaborated on China’s willingness to engage in the development of cross-border transport hubs, logistics industrial parks, and digital systems for customs clearance, which are pivotal for the route’s enhancement.
The proposed projects aim to reduce transportation and logistics costs between China and Azerbaijan, thereby increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of trade via the Middle Corridor. This development is seen as a significant step towards strengthening economic ties and facilitating smoother trade operations between the two nations.
