AIDA and UNESCAP Forge Partnership with New MoU

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), during the 82nd session of the UNESCAP in Bangkok. The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) and UNESCAP.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussion between Bayramov and Alisjahbana centered on the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCAP and explored future collaborative prospects. Bayramov emphasized Azerbaijan’s increasing influence on regional and international platforms, including its leadership role in the 2023 summit celebrating the 25th anniversary of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia and its successful hosting of COP29 in 2024.

The d
ialogue also underscored the strategic importance of collaboration within the Middle Corridor framework and potential avenues for cooperation between UNESCAP and SPECA countries. Moreover, both parties exchanged insights on other global issues and challenges of mutual interest.
