Baku: A total of 3,297 individuals have been successfully evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan between 8:00 on February 28 and 10:00 on April 4.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, of the evacuees, 572 are Azerbaijani citizens. The evacuation effort included citizens from various countries, with China accounting for 730 individuals, Russia 354, and Bangladesh 198. Other notable numbers include 189 from Tajikistan, 151 from Pakistan, 238 from India, and smaller groups from countries such as Oman, Indonesia, Italy, Algeria, and many others.
The wide-reaching evacuation operation was initiated in response to military actions in the region. On February 28, the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran, leading to significant political upheaval. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior officials were reportedly killed. Following these events, Iran retaliated by targeting military bases of the US and its allies located in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Cyprus, and Israel.
The ongoing conflict has prompted nations to expedite evacuation procedures for their citizens to ensure their safety amidst the rising tensions and hostilities in the region.
