Baku: The Azerbaijani government has successfully repatriated a total of 16 Azerbaijani citizens, comprising seven women and nine children, from the Syrian Arab Republic. This operation was conducted on July 18 and 19, following phased and coordinated measures, as reported by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry to APA.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the initial steps involved confirming the location, identity, and Azerbaijani citizenship of the repatriates. To facilitate this process, a Working Group consisting of state agencies tasked with addressing the crisis situations of Azerbaijani citizens abroad was sent to Syria. The group ensured that the repatriates received necessary initial medical and psychological examinations.
Further, with the coordination of the Embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Trkiye, as well as the Consulate General in Istanbul, the repatriated citizens were issued with certificates of return and provided with airline tickets to facilitate their journey back to Azerbaijan.
In addition to bringing them back home, relevant measures are planned to support the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriates into Azerbaijani society. The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan remains committed to continuing its efforts to repatriate Azerbaijani citizens affected by armed conflicts in foreign nations.
