Zhaparov: Kyrgyzstan remains active promoter of mountain countries’ interests on international arena
For thirty years Kyrgyzstan remains an active promoter of mountain countries’ interests on international arena in order to solve the issues of sustainable development and climate change influence. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov told speaking online at the 15th Conference of Parties (COP15) of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which is taking place in Kunming, China.
President Zhaparov said that in this regard he announced the initiative to declare the 2022 as the International Mountain Year, adopt the Five-year Program on Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions and to convene the Bishkek-plus-twenty-five Global Summit in 2027.
“The Kyrgyz Republic is committed to the goal of UN Convention on Biological Diversity and supports the hosting of its regular session in Kunming, in order to solve topical issues of biodiversity preservation on our planet. It is very important that our meeting is taking place before such an international event as the twenty sixth Conference of Parties of the UN Climate Change Convention, as this phenomenon has become one of reasons for flora and fauna destruction on Earth,” he said.
