Kazakhstan will further work on preventing the spread of Salafi movement. This was stated today at CCS briefing by the Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of Kazakhstan Nurlan Yermekbayev.

There is a decrease in the number of Salafism followers, therewith they have no organized structures in Kazakhstan, Nurlan Yermekbayev said.

According to the Minister, Kazakhstan will further carry out activities aimed at preventing the spread of literature and websites that promote Salafism ideology. Nurlan Yermekbayev stressed that the modern Kazakh society can prevent the spread of Salafi movement with no legal prohibition applied, and the case needs joint actions.

Salafi ideas have been currently criticized by authoritative religious leaders and advanced Islamic thought representatives, Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society added.
