At the Government meeting, Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Yerlan Sagadiyev noted the need for strict compliance with the Labor Code by the employer, “let employees go home after 6 p.m. so they can educate their children.”

Y.Sagadiyev stressed that many parents do not have time to properly rear their children because of the work.

“The role and responsibility of parents for the children upbringing is reducing. Since parents are constantly at work, they do not have time to raise their children. There are many civil servants among them. We believe that it would be right to let employees go home in a timely manner. It is a necessity,” Y. Sagadiyev said.

The Minister stressed that employers need to comply with the Labor Code, because working late is a social problem affecting children.

“Working late is a social problem affecting children. Upbringing of children and issues that are being discussed today – our most serious and effective resource that is almost not used nowadays. We consider it is necessary to strictly comply with the Labor Code so that employees can spend more time with their children and actively participate in the process of their upbringing. Especially it is desirable to take public authorities under control. It is known as a fact that the uncontrolled pastime of children leads to a different kind of antisocial actions,” Y.Sagadiyev claimed.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, nowadays only 10-12% of the total number of parents participates in teacher-parent meetings.

“Today, only 10-12% of the total number of parents participates in teacher-parent meetings. Our statistics showed that for 11 years 50% of parents never participated in such meetings, Y.Sagadiyev informed.
