Y. Birtanov: Foreign medical specialists to be attracted to medical universities of Kazakhstan

During the briefing at the Government press center, Minister of Healthcare Yelzhan Birtanov spoke about plans to attract foreign specialists to medical universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan to improve the level of students’ training.

Foreign faculty will be attracted to significantly improve the quality of medical training in universities. At present, two higher educational institutions have attracted specialists at top management level. In the future, it is also planned to continue attracting foreign specialists to improve medical training programs, Y. Birtanov said.

The Minister noted that the presence of foreign professors will help create a layer of specialists who will be able to provide highly qualified assistance and work on modern equipment.

This is the so-called mentoring program, where the invited professors work side by side with our teachers in medical schools and help them implement modern training programs. This practice has successfully proved itself in the Nazarbayev University medical school, which employs many foreign specialists, the Minister of Healthcare summed up.
