What opportunities UN Security Council opens for Kazakhstan
Director of the History Institute of the State Burkitbay Ayagan believes Kazakhstan has an opportunity to do all the best as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, to express all the ideas and show its positions.
“Kazakhstan has joined non-permanent UN Security Council members. I believe this is a huge success for Kazakhstan’s foreign policy. As you know, the UN Security Council decides on war and peace issues. In addition, Kazakhstan has opened the doors to discuss the most urgent problems”, – B. Ayagan said in an interview.
In this case, doctor of historical sciences, Professor Georgy Kahn suggested the election of Kazakhstan for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) gives us the confidence and confirms that our course is correct and accurate.
“We must show the world an example of stability and unity. Kazakhstan – a country that voluntarily refused its nuclear arsenal and has the right to submit global initiatives on international security for discussion. There is a need to clearly define the positions of states and citizens. The election of Kazakhstan for the post of non-permanent UN Security Council member gives us the confidence and confirms that our course is correct and accurate”, – said Mr. Kahn.
According to the professor, the international community trusts us. In this regard, Kazakhstan has double responsibility.

According to the president of Association of Legal Entities “Union of Azerbaijani cultural centers in Kazakhstan” Vidadi Salahov, the election of Kazakhstan for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council shows the country’s importance in world politics.
On June 28 this year, the UN General Assembly held the election of five new non-permanent UN Security Council members. Kazakhstan has become a non-permanent member of this organization for 2017-2018 years. Kazakhstan has got the support of 138 countries. Kazakhstan officially gets the rights of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council on January 1, 2017.
