Water security issues to be discussed in the Senate

Under the chairmanship of Dariga Nazarbayeva, a meeting of the Bureau of the Senate of the Parliament took place.

The Chamber will consider bills: On ratification of the Extradition Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Ukraine; On ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Affairs of April 15, 1994; On Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan Regarding the Provision of Public Services.

The members of the Bureau also distributed the bills approved by the Majilis.

The Committee on Constitutional Legislation, the Judiciary, and Law Enforcement Agencies was identified as the lead committee on the draft law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mongolia on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons.

The draft law On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on military cooperation has been submitted to the Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security.

In accordance with the Senate Plan, parliamentary hearings will be held on November 29 on the topic Water Security of Kazakhstan: Status, Problems and Recommendations. The organization of the parliamentary hearings is entrusted to the Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament. In this regard, members of the Bureau expressed their views on the most pressing issues of ensuring water security.

The Senate speaker emphasized that there should be uniform requirements and standards for public and private reservoirs. Private reservoirs should be controlled at the state level. What are the requirements, standards, when was the last time state bodies checked them? , D. Nazarbayeva said. Senator Mukhtar Kul-Mohammed gave an example of the tragedy in Kyzylagash. In this regard, Dariga Nazarbayeva instructed to carefully study the existing laws, regulations and standards in the field of water security and prepare proposals for their improvement.

Also at a meeting of the Bureau, a discussion of the three-year budget, which is now being considered in Senate Committees, took place. In her speech, Dariga Nazarbayeva emphasized: Everyone knows that budget utilization is constantly criticized. I believe that responsibility for the correct formation and implementation of the republican budget lies not only with the government and executive bodies, but also with deputies. Because this law is passed by Parliament. I instruct all committees to carefully and comprehensively consider this important document from the state point of view.

The head of the relevant Committee, Olga Perepechina, said that the discussion of the three-year budget is now being held in working groups, an expanded meeting of the Finance and Budget Committee will be held on November 21, then the bill will be submitted to the Chamber.

The Senate Chair also informed the Bureau about the start of a competition for the best journalistic investigation based on materials from the Senate and a competition for environmental journalism.

The purpose of these contests is to popularize and enhance the prestige of the profession of a journalist, develop the genre of journalistic investigation , increase public awareness of the Senate, improve environmental legislation, encourage journalists, D. Nazarbayeva said.
