Fortification of flour is made in Pavlodar region

“According to statistics for 2018, 5329 people suffer from iron deficiency anemia in Pavlodar region, of whom 43% are children. Among adults, over 90% of IDA is women. Enrichment (fortification) of flour is a long-term strategy for the population of Kazakhstan” – said the Head of the Department of Public Health Protection of Pavlodar Region, Irina Sorokina, at a press conference in the Regional Communications Service of Pavlodar Region.

As the speaker said, the enrichment of flour of the first and highest grades is made at 10 grain processing enterprises of the Pavlodar region, of which flour fortifying dispensers are installed at 7 flour mills: LLP “Group – Inter”, Pavlodar, LLP “Aquamarine PV” g Pavlodar, IP Tetenevag.Pavlodar, FC Ulan, Pavlodar, IP Raziev Kh.T. Irtyshsky district, KHK “Urazbayev” Irtyshsky district, KH Talapker Irtyshsky district. The remaining 3 enterprises carry out the enrichment of flour by accompanying each bag with premix packaging, which involves the use of such flour only at bakeries and does not allow for sale in the distribution network.

Within the framework of interdepartmental cooperation, work is underway to conclude memorandums with the heads of educational, health and social facilities on the use of wheat flour of the highest and first grades, subject to mandatory fortification. Totally, 129 memorandums have been concluded today, added Irina Sorokina.
