Tokayev reported on plans of Senate for the forthcoming session
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, the press service of Akorda informed.
In the course of the meeting, the Head of State was informed about the main results of the legislative activity of the third session of the VI convocation of the Senate and the plan of legislative work for the forthcoming session.
“The next session is scheduled to consider a large number of bills in the field of economics, as well as a number of international documents. The Government is preparing a whole package of legislative initiatives, on which we need to work. We continue working on the implementation of the previously adopted programs for infrastructure and industrial development, the implementation of the Five Presidential Social Initiatives”, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev reported that 84 laws had been passed by the Senate deputies following the results of the previous session, including in the sphere of taxation, customs regulation, budget administration, and others.
In the context of ratifying the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, the President of Kazakhstan separately focused on the results of the Fifth Summit of the Caspian States.
“The Heads of five States signed the Convention of the Caspian Sea, to which we have been preparing for more than 20 years. All international experts note the importance of this decision, which will contribute to further development of the city of Aktau and Mangistau region, creation of new jobs in the region, promotion of services and tourism”, the Head of State said.
