THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WERE DISCUSSED AT THE SENATE
The first meeting of the working group on ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities and improvement of quality of life was held in the Senate. The Working Group was established on the instructions of the Chairman of the Senate Dariga Nazarbayeva.
The Senate deputies, responsible ministries and representatives of non-governmental organizations took part in it. The working group is headed by Senator Nariman Toregaliyev from West Kazakhstan Oblast.
According to the participants of the meeting, it is possible to reduce the salaries of employers and to lower the salaries of disadvantaged people. Therefore, it is necessary to tighten regulations regarding employers in existing laws.
The issue of raising the status of social workers to help people with disabilities was also discussed. It was reported that social workers are regarded as low and low-income employees. Representatives of non-governmental organizations suggested legal status, qualification improvement and remuneration of their status.
“We have a number of laws aimed at improving the quality of life and the rights of people with disabilities. However, their implementation is not as successful. Particularly, it is noticed by the responsible authorities that this issue is ignored. We will collect all proposals and initiatives, and prepare a package of documents to the relevant authorities, “Senator Nariman Turegaliev said.
Nariman Turegaliev noted that the working group will work until November 30.
