The Output of the Capital’s Entrepreneurs Has Increased by 55.8%


The Mayor’s Office of Astana has summed up the results of social and economic development for the first half of 2017. Positive dynamics is observed in all the key sectors of the economy.

The output of industrial products increased by 4.3%, including by 85.7% in the machine building industry, by 78.9% in metallurgy.

Since the beginning of the year, the city’s economy attracted 358.6 billion tenge of investment with the growth of 11.3% if compared to the same period of last year.

1.5 million square meters have been already commissioned in Astana, which is 33% higher than the level of 2016. In the structure of the national housing construction, the share of the capital is about 27.3%.

Significant growth rates are observed in the field of small and mediumsized businesses. The volume of output of private entrepreneurship increased by 55.8% compared to the last year. Today, 297.6 thousand people work in this field.

According to the presented statistics, SMEs produced products for a total of 797.6 bln tenge during the first quarter of this year, which exceeds the figures of the previous year by 55.8%.

Among the regions, the capital’s entrepreneurs are the most effective. Thus, if calculated as per one employed in the SME, the output was 2.7 million tenge, which is twice higher than the national indicator.

At the moment, more than 61% of the total employed population of the capital works in this field.

In preparation for EXPO2017, 7 708 jobs were created in the field of SMEs.

The volume of retail trade has grown by 10.1% and amounted to 481 billion tenge.

In the capital’s labor market, 9 325 new jobs have been created; the unemployment rate has dropped to 4.6% and is the lowest across the whole country.

Due to the development of the real sector of the economy, revenues to the local budget have increased by 16.2% and amounted to 119.7 billion tenge.

Following the end of the year, all target indicators of development will be achieved.
