The number of requests for side effects of drugs decreased by 8.4 times compared to last year.
In Kazakhstan, the deadly medicine Erespal was recalled from the shelves.
The drug Erespal is completely withdrawn from us. We have collected all the balances that will now be returned to the manufacturer. This is more than 80 thousand packages. Nowhere in the retail pharmacies is there a drug, said Lyudmila Byurabekova, chairman of the Committee of Pharmacy at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at a press conference in the CCS.
Erespal – cough medicine. Following the research, experts warned consumers that French pills and Erespal or Pnevmorel syrups could lead to cardiac arrest. Doctors from all over the world, including in Kazakhstan, prescribed these drugs for colds, bronchitis and asthma. Dangerous side effects were identified by the manufacturer as a result of animal studies, but they still decided to stop production and withdraw stocks.
She added that the Committee of Pharmacy MZRK carefully monitors the side effects of drugs.
Only in 2018 in Kazakhstan, 3,200 reports of adverse effects of drugs were recorded, and in the first two months of 2019 – 398 calls. Of these, some medications were temporarily or completely withdrawn from circulation, said Lyudmila Byurabekova.
